She says she wishes her heart was clean but it's been burdened by the weight of this world.

She says she wishes her soul wasn't so filthy but like a leech extracting blood, her soul is drained.

She says she wishes she could lower her gaze but her eyes have become a product of sin.

She wishes she could quit the music but her ears have become accustomed to the tunes the devil dances to.

She says she wishes her mouth wasn't so foul but it's become tarnished by language of the West.

She says she wishes she could prevent the free-mixing but it's become a norm to her system.

She says she wishes she wouldn't be judged but as a covered woman this will always be inevitable.

She says she wishes she could change her life but the balance between her western life and Islam is too difficult to maintain.

I tell her I understand and that she's not to blame, this dunya has haunted me too and made me insane,

It has made me insane.
